What We Can Do To Help President Noynoy

Some say change and hope began today when newly-elected president Noynoy Aquino took his oath of office as the Philippines’ 15th president of the Republic.

I don’t completely agree with what people say. Why? Because President Noynoy is just one person, and even if he has his team of Cabinet members to back him up and support him in all his national reforms, it won’t be realized apart from every Filipino’s cooperation and unity.

Reading from the full transcript of President Noynoy’s inaugural speech, I’m so happy to know that the son of the late and former Philippine President Cory Aquino, sees each one of us as his co-laborers in bringing our country out of the mud and mire of corruption and indifference.

The task of restoring the peace and order, educational reforms, economic reform and solution to the many ills of the country can be too much for President Noynoy to bear.

Every Filipino, everyone of us has an important role to play in the country’s road to progress and peace.

It starts with YOU and ME…

* By throwing our garbages in proper waste baskets. Flood in Metro Manila isn’t entirely the fault of the Department of Publoic Works and Highway, partly, we Metro Manila residents are responsible especially if we just throw garbages in the streets or roads or canals.

* Obey and respect traffic rules. Traffic violation causes road chaos, but when every pedestrian and driver alike act responsibly, we don’t even need MMDA traffic enforcers later on.

* Pray for our leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-3 says, 1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

When  we have nothing good to say with our government, start praying instead of cursing. The Bible says, praying for our leaders is good and pleases God our Savior because He desires every leader of ours to be aligned to His truth.

Change? We all have a hand on it. Let’s all do our part.
