Ava and I are enjoying our time with some of the Tsinoy couples we’re meeting for small group every week at Binondo.
We normally meet at either Wah Ying in Benavidez (just facing Hope Christian High School) or Starbucks along Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz.
Tonight, we had our small group at Wan Chai on the other side of Benavidez.
Pastor Noel, who helped establish this small group, coined the group FTG, which stands for Food Trip Gang.
Interestingly, everyone, including the wives, loves to eat.
Siomai, siopao, noodles of different varieties and toppings you won’t normally find in some of the fastfood chains, can all be found in these two mentioned Chinese food stops.
However, what I love the most about our weekly small group is the increased passion I see among the five couples we meet every week.
Though they have busy schedules during the week—some have overtime at work or businesses to attend to, yet they make sure they get to be at our small group to hear the message for the week, grow further in their walk with God and be able to build strong friendships with one another.
From what I observed, growth comes in two ways: vertically (grow in one’s relationship with God), and horizontally (grow in one’s faith by reaching to friends and family members).
We’re in faith that in the coming days, these five couples would grow exponentially, touching lives of other Tsinoys in the area as well.
And soon, God would use these Tsinoys to be a bridge that would reach Filipinos living in Binondo and beyond.
