Start Of Something New For FEU Taekwondo Teams

Since we started our small group with two athletes from Far Eastern University’s men’s taekwondo team on mid-2008, one of my prayers was for God to open a door for us to disciple both the men’s and women’s team.

aj-ken SGThis morning, that prayer had been answered.

Through the help of Jaz Distrito, wife of former Philippine Christian University assistant coach Nixon, we got connected to FEU’s taekwondo head coach Veronica Domingo, and the result was an initial small group among 32 varsity athletes from the men’s, women and juniors teams.

God has his unique way of getting us connected to people.

Coach Veronica, a many-time national player and a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist during the 2003 edition, admitted that even with the talent her teams have this season, she could sense the lack of spiritual depth among her players.

“During training, nakikita ko yung galing ng mga players. Mas magaling pa nga sila kumpara sa time na nagsisimula pa lang ako. Pero I felt kulang sila sa spiritual feeding. That is what our team needs now,” said Coach Veronica.

We’re excited to meet the FEU taekwondo teams in small groups because we know once they get discipled, these players would make an even bigger impact not only in the UAAP scene, but even in the national team eventually.

FEU is one of the major contributors of players to the national team in recent years.

We pray that the FEU taekwondo jinns would not just be champions in the gym, but champions for life as well.
